De-friend Workshop

MFA Fibre student Sarah Gotowka is offering a one day workshop where she will introduce how to embed text into friendship bracelets through the traditional techniques of bead weaving and macrame knotting. This workshop will begin with a small artist talk and lecture, presenting research that questions the shifting values of what it really means to be "friends" in contemporary society. The majority of the workshop will function as a quilting bee of sorts; a sharing of snacks, stories, and intimacies while weaving narratives of the 21st century.Please register by email to [email protected] by March 1st if you are interested in participating. A minimum of 10 people is required for the workshop to proceed.There is a maximum of 16 spaces available, so reserve your spot ASAP!Some demonstration materials will be supplied, but you are encouraged to bring your own for a project (a list will be provided upon registration).
